Snowcat Ridge Alpine Snow Park is preparing to open up next week for its 2021 winter season.
The park opened up last year and features a wide variety of winter activities, including an arctic igloo and an alpine village that can’t be found anywhere else in Florida. Oh, and did we mention it features real snow?
The winter wonderland is located in Dade City, which is in Pasco County in Central Florida.
The snow park’s reopening is scheduled for Nov. 10 and will remain open through March 27.
The park, which features a 10,000-square-foot indoor snow play area and a 400-foot-long snow tubing hill, has a couple of new attractions up its sleeve. This upcoming season, officials announced the addition of two new attractions: the Eskimo Outpost and the Crystal Ribbon, an outdoor ice skating area.
“Ice skating is the quintessential winter pastime and now you can enjoy it right here in Florida,” officials wrote on the park’s website. “Lace up your skates and get ready to glide across the ice under Florida’s sunny skies during the day and under our magical music & light show at night!”
At the all-new Crystal Ribbon attraction, guests will have the opportunity to skate on a large, ribbon-shaped rink or an oval-shaped area designed for beginners. Guests will be able to rent ice skates all day for just $9.95 or bring their own. A general admission ticket is required for all guests.
The all-new Eskimo Outpost will be located near the Snowy Slopes attraction at the park.
The area will include fire pits with places to sit, eight private igloos that can be used for large birthdays or company events, access to the Refreshers: Beer, Wine, & Drinks area, and unlimited water bottles for guests. Igloo bookings will be available soon.
During its inaugural season, Snowcat Ridge had a bit of a rough start. The park experienced a snow shortage just a few days after opening. At that time, park officials said they “miscalculated” the amount of snow they would need for the park’s indoor play area.
Then, after only being open for a month, the park was forced closed by Pasco County officials over permit issues.
However, Snowcat Ridge has redeemed itself and is fully prepared for the upcoming holiday season.
“You no longer have to just dream of having a white Christmas here in Florida. You can actually experience it for yourself!”
On select days, tickets to Snowcat Ridge Alpine Snow Park start at $26.95.
