It seems like traveling is a top priority on many Americans’ wish list this upcoming summer season.

Because last year canceled millions of plans for domestic and international travel due to pandemic closures, the travel bug is hitting even harder this time around, causing plans to find the next destination to circulate.

Now that the vaccine is readily available for all adults throughout most states in the U.S., travel is becoming a top priority for those willing and financially able to get out.

According to a recent survey from TripIt, the Sunshine State is the No. 2 dream destination on American bucket lists this summer, trailing the tropical island of Hawaii.

It is likely that the recent events during Spring Break on South Beach sparked the thought of a ‘dreamland’ scenario in Florida for a summer getaway for prospective travelers.

In the survey conducted by TripIt, 3,200 users based in the U.S., “94 percent of respondents said they plan to travel in 2021.”

But before we analyze the data, let’s understand what a “dream” or “bucket list” destination is first.

Traditionally, the latter travel ideas indicate a “once in a lifetime trip.” Therefore, Florida is a dream destination for many travelers looking to travel within the United States. Of the respondents in the survey, 26 percent of prospective travelers plan to make their summer vacation a bucket list trip.

Fortunately for Florida residents, they don’t have to look beyond their backyard to enjoy the perks the Sunshine State has to offer.

The survey pointed out that travelers are looking to visit warmer climates (likely due to the harsh winter season), and the uptick in travel plans is due to vaccine availability. Most respondents who chose Florida indicated that they wanted to visit Disney World and place a checkmark on their bucket list.

Florida has no shortage of tourist traps, local eateries, beaches, and unlimited sunshine, making it a prime choice for those itching to get out this summer.
