From its hub in Miami, Florida, American Airlines is flying to a new warm-weather location and providing extra seats.

As of Thursday, American will fly nonstop for the first time between Miami International Airport and Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas (GHB). The service, which is situated around 69 miles east of Nassau, will fly twice a week aboard an Embraer E175 aircraft.

On November 5 and December 20, respectively, American will launch new daily services within the country from Miami to Portland, Oregon, and Sacramento.

Between November 11 and March 30, 2024, the airline will also launch Saturday-only service to the following markets from its Florida destination.

  • – Buffalo, NY
  • – Cedar Rapids, IA
  • – Lexington, KY
  • – Wichita, KS
  • – Wilmington, NC

Between December 20 and April 3, 2024, the airline will increase the number of daily flights from Miami to the following markets:

  • – Milwaukee, WI
  • – Oklahoma City, OK
  • – Nashville, TN
  • – Denver, CO

In the same period from December to April, the airline will increase the number of flights from Miami to San Antonio, San Diego, and Seattle from once daily to twice daily.

“With a more than 30 year-history at Miami International Airport, American is proud to serve as the hometown airline, providing our customers with an unparalleled network that includes unique destinations like Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas; Anguilla; and Sacramento, California,” Juan Carlos Liscano, American’s Vice President of Miami Airport Hub Operations, said in the announcement.

In light of the record-breaking summer travel season, American will expand the frequency of some overseas markets this winter.

During the Christmas season, which runs from December 20 through January 7, 2024, the airline will boost the number of flights from Miami to Cancun to six per day. American will expand the frequency to Tortola from two to three flights during the same period, giving visitors to the British Virgin Islands greater options.
