Families that are having financial difficulties may find the holidays to be a stressful time, particularly in South Florida, where consumer prices have increased by 28 percent since the pandemic began in 2020.
To appeal to families struggling with inflation, even big-box retailers like Aldi, Target, and Walmart are providing turkey meal specials. Imagine a turkey package with all the fixings!
According to a recent assessment by the US Department of Agriculture, 47.7 million individuals were food insecure in 2023. Compared to 2022, that is a 3.2 million increase. In the meantime, one in seven American households experienced hunger.
A list of South Florida food deliveries, community resources, and food pantries has been produced by WLRN in anticipation of Thanksgiving.
