On September 30, Florida’s hourly minimum wage is expected to increase.

Voters in 2020 adopted a measure that would gradually increase the state minimum wage yearly until it reached $15 in 2026. Florida’s minimum pay formerly equaled the federal minimum wage of $7.25 before the ballot initiative took effect.

Florida’s current minimum wage for non-tipped employees is $11 per hour, while the rate for tipped employees is $7.98. On September 30, these sums will rise by $1, to $12 and $8.98, respectively.

The estimated living wage for a Florida family with two children and two working parents is a little over $25 per hour, or $90,121 per year after taxes, according to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s living wage calculator. The estimated living wage for a single individual without children is $17.72 per hour, or $32,267 per year after taxes.

On September 30, 2026, Florida’s minimum wage will increase to $15 an hour.
