South Florida celebrates National Dog Day 2021: ‘Yappy’ hour events & paw-fect treats

While there are several unofficial national holidays to celebrate every day, this holiday is im-paw-ssible to miss! Thursday, Aug.26, is National Dog Day.

National Dog Day is dedicated to your favorite companion, best friend, and loyal fur baby. 

It is a well-known fact that South Floridians own a lot of dogs. Just take a drive through Miami Beach, Midtown, or Las Olas, and you are bound to see owners happily walking their pets.

We’ve gathered up some of South Florida’s most dog-friendly happy hours, hotels, restaurants, and events to make memories that will last fur-ever.

“Yappy” (Happy) Hour Events

American Social Brickell – Thursday, Aug. 26 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Yappy hour anyone? American Social is hosting a happy hour specifically for dog owners and their furry friends in honor of National Dog Day. From 4 p.m.-7 p.m., guests and their four-legged friends can find an array of dog- and human-friendly specials. Plus, Tito’s cocktails and doggie bites range from $5 to $10 and will be donated to a good cause. Eden Roc Miami Beach & Nobu Hotel Miami Beach Thursday, Aug. 26 from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Furry friends are always welcome on property, but on National Dog Day, Nobu Hotels Miami Beach and Eden Roc will celebrate their beloved guests from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. with complimentary house-made dog treats at Cafe Inez. Free National Dog Day Events

Riverside Miami Meetup – Saturday, Aug. 28 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Dogs of all sizes and breeds are welcome to celebrate National Dog Day at Riverside Miami’s Mega Dog Meetup. The meetup will be presented by Solo Beagles and Doggizen and feature several drink specials, local vendors, and food. Groups joining the event include the Miami Goldens, Broward Dachshunds, South Florida Corgis, Miami Doodles, and SoFlo Bassets. Dogs must be leashed at all times and pet owners must clean up after their furry companions. 25 SE Fifth St., Miami. Admission is free.
