The 2012 McLaren MP4-12C has been named the Driver’s Auto Mart used car of the week. Before we get into why it was named the used car of the week, we’ll first take a look at the appealing race design of the vehicle. The British Automotive company is known for its history of competing in American open-wheel races, speedy and highly efficient drivetrain. The McLaren MP4-12C comes as a 2D coupe model and can easily be identified thanks to its light-bodied appearance and sleek design. Now let’s see why it was chosen.

Notable Features

  • Luxurious Ride Quality

A handful of cars tend to sacrifice luxury and comfort for a more powerful ride, but the MP4 gives those cars a bad name. This bad boy takes curves to the next level and can still duke it out with some of the faster cars in its class.

  • Powerful Twin-Turbo Engine

While it only comes in one engine option (V8), it proves to be more than enough. Thanks to a powerful twin-turbo engine, this vehicle pushes out a speedy 592 horsepower, outranking some of its 2012 model year V10 opponents.

Engine and Power

The meat and potatoes. The McLaren MP4 supercar lineup was known to push close to 600 horsepower from their V8 twin-turbo engines and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This vehicle is also equipped with F1-style paddle shifters, giving the driver the option to switch between automatic and manual. This lightweight supercharged vehicle also hits an impressive 0-60 benchmark in 3.3 seconds; that’s fast.

Drivers may think it’s a hard task to control a car with such power, but thanks to the dynamic chassis, drivers can switch between normal, sport, or track mode depending on the mood they are in.

Styling and Design

While the 2012 McLaren MP4-12C may be listed as an almost decade-old vehicle, the design team at the British automaker make sure their vehicles are timeless. This looks like something out of a movie set in 2050. From the large air-intake on the sides to the vertical-winged doors, this vehicle spews ingenuity.

Inside the cockpit, drivers will notice they have more space than anticipated; think of lounge-like chairs. Not only is it comfortable, but it also has impressive cargo space behind the two front seats. And don’t forget the massive vertical entertainment screen that is styled into a long and thin console extending into the dashboard.

Features

As stated before, the McLaren MP4-12C comes standard with a V8 twin-turbocharged engine and a 7-speed transmission. It also comes with 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels, cruise control, 7-inch touch-screen infotainment display, bi-xenon headlights, a Meridian 4-speaker sound system with AM/FM/USB/hard drive and iPod interaction, and dual-zone climate control.

Driver’s Auto Mart also offers premium options, highlighting a backup camera, remote keyless entry, front fog lights, rain-sensing wipers,  a navigation system, and high-intensity discharge headlights.

Pricing

Like any supercar, at its release, the McLaren MP4-12C came with a hefty price tag with a starting MSRP of $229,000 (plus destination fee), but at Driver’s Auto Mart you can get your hands on the base model with navigation for just under $90,000.
