The countdown to the end of summer has begun, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go on that trip you’ve been planning. And a new report says that you might not have to go very far to get to some of the summer’s most popular places.
HomeToGo put out a list of the most popular U.S. tourist vacation destinations for 2023 based on how fast traveler search demand is growing.
The ranking was based on how many visitors looked for stays in the U.S. between January 1, 2023, and July 20, 2023, with check-in dates between July 1 and August 31, 2023, compared to the same time period in 2022.
Jacksonville Beach, Florida, was at the top of the list of the most popular tourist attractions to go in the summer. Compared to 2022, the number of searches for the place rose by 136.73 percent.
The city is part of a group of communities called the Jacksonville Beaches, which also include Mayport, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach.
Jacksonville Beach has long stretches of beach, a golf course, a famous fishing pier, and many things to do in the water. The Visit Florida website says that it is also a favorite place for surfers.

South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach is the second most popular summer vacation spot in the United States. Compared to last year, more people searched for the place by 130.7 percent.
Visit Myrtle Beach says that with an average of 19 million people a year, Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular places to visit in South Carolina. It is on the 60-mile Grand Strand of the Atlantic Coast.
The popular beach town has almost 60 miles of beaches with golf courses and two state parks with trails for walking and biking. U.S. News and World Report says that tourists don’t have to look far along the famous oceanfront boardwalk to find live music and cultural events.
Miramar Beach, which is in Florida, is the second place on the list. It is between Destin and 30A, which is a famous place to visit. Compared to 2022, the number of searches for the beach town went up by 125.18 percent.
Visitors to Miramar Beach can enjoy the white sand beaches and see hundreds of alligators at Gator Beach, which is home to animals. It is also home to the Silver Sands Premium Outlets mall, which has stores like adidas, Disney, Nike, and more.
