The days of scrambling around the car to find your remote garage door opener only to find out it has no battery are over. Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) is solving that problem for good.
Garage door openers have been popping up on car rearview mirrors and sunblocking visors over the past few years, but Mitsubishi is pushing that envelope even further.
In a recent partnership with The Chamberlain Group, Inc. (CGI), Mitsubishi will become the first automaker to look past the button garage door opener and integrate the feature into their own system with the myQ-powered garage door opener.
Now available on the Mitsubishi Connect platform, owners of the all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander, as well as select 2018 and newer Eclipse Cross vehicles can experience the ultimate convenience of opening their home garage doors from their in-dash touch screens.
“We are excited to be the first to offer our drivers the ability to open or close their garage door directly from their in-dash touchscreen,” said Bryan Arnett, Director of Digital Product Strategy for Mitsubishi Motors Research and Development Americas. “Providing in-dash touchscreen control for the garage enables a more convenient and seamless driving experience. Now, not only will they be able to check to see if they left their garage door open, but they will also be able to close the garage door from anywhere.”
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and Outlander owners with qualifying trim levels will be able to activate the myQ connected garage door opener through Android Auto™, and the My Mitsubishi Connect app.
What distinguishes the myQ opener from any other ordinary door opener is its range capabilities. Traditionally, in-vehicle and remote control garage door openers must be with X proximity or line of sight with the door it is registered to. However, Mitsubishi has raised the bar by placing no boundaries on the range, meaning a driver no longer has to be within the same block of the house to open the garage door. Now, a driver will be able to allow family members, friends, next-door neighbors, or postal workers to enter the garage from anywhere.
Additionally, drivers will be able to monitor the status of their garage doors through the myQ Connected Garage feature. Have you ever left the house wondering if your garage door was left open? Fear no more; with the Mitsubishi Connect app, you can close it from anywhere in the event you ever forget to close it.
