TAMPA, FL – This weekend, a severe weather outbreak that could affect up to 150 million people in the central and eastern United States will make its way to Florida, bringing storms to the Tampa Bay region.
Strong storms could potentially strike the Bay Area late Sunday into early Monday, according to FOX 13 meteorologists, even though the brunt of the severe weather is expected to remain north and west of the area.
Forecast for Friday
With largely sunny skies and a south wind that will push temperatures into the low to mid-80s, FOX 13 Meteorologist Dave Osterberg predicts that the workweek will conclude nicely.
What to anticipate this weekend.
Osterberg predicts that Saturday will be much warmer, with highs in Tampa reaching the mid-80s and perhaps reaching 90 degrees inland.
Although there won’t be any rain in the Bay Area for the majority of Sunday, storms are predicted to start moving through the area in the evening and at night.
With the possibility of severe storms extending all the way into the northeastern U.S. on Sunday, Osterberg believes those storms will bring a marginal chance of severe weather to parts of the Bay Area late Sunday and early Monday.
Parts of the Midwest on Friday and the Deep South on Saturday, including the Florida Panhandle and sizable areas of Alabama and Mississippi, are at higher risk of severe weather.
According to Osterberg, storms may still be severe but will probably decrease a little before making it to the Bay Area.
The Bay Area will have afternoon temperatures of about 80 degrees for the majority of next week once the rain stops on Monday, according to forecasters.
