ORLANDO, Fl. – As Tropical Depression 9 gets closer and closer to Florida, models are projecting the wave will cross the Caribbean Sea and hit Florida as a hurricane.
The National Hurricane Center described TD9 as “disheveled, however, warm water and weaker wind sheer should give the storm time to strengthen into a hurricane in the days ahead.
In an effort to get residents ready for the storm, counties in Central Florida are offering sandbag locations.
ORANGE COUNTY
Bithlo Community Park – 18501 Washington Ave., Orlando
- Sunday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Downey Park – 10107 Flowers Ave., Orlando
- Sunday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Meadow Woods Park – 1754 Rhode Island Woods Circle, Orlando
- Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Barnett Park and Rec Center – 4801 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando
- Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
West Orange Rec Center – 309 S. West Crown Point Road, Winter Garden
- Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
SEMINOLE COUNTY
Boombah Seminole County Sports Overflow Lot – 3450 East Lake Mary Boulevard, Sanford
- Friday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Residents will be able to fill up to 15 bags per household. You should bring your own shovel, gloves, and be prepared to fill and load your bags.
VOLUSIA COUNTY
Nova Community Center – 440 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach
- Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
City officials said residents can get up to 10 complimentary fillable bags during operation hours. You’ll need to bring a shovel and be able to load/fill your own bags.
