According to the City of Tampa, it is crucial to keep beads and other non-biodegradable objects out of Tampa’s waterways because they endanger marine life and the ecosystem.
According to Florida Statute 403.413, it is forbidden to throw beads into the water.
By providing visitors who bring buckets of beads, the Florida Aquarium is assisting in the promotion of a “greener Gasparilla” by giving admission for free.
For each five-gallon bucket of beads dropped off, you can earn fifty percent off one (1) regular admission ticket, according to the Aquarium.
“All beads collected will be donated to the MacDonald Training Center, which will clean and repackage them for resale for future use. Funds raised support the Center’s mission of transforming the lives of people with disabilities through vocational training, employment pathways, residential supports, and life enrichment opportunities,” said The Florida Aquarium.
The offer runs through Feb. 11, 2024.
