Authorities claimed that on Wednesday afternoon, flames broke through the roof of superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins, who lives in South Florida.
Twenty firefighters from Davie Fire Rescue responded to the incident at 16755 Berkshire Court in the town of Southwest Ranches after receiving a call at 1:55 p.m., according to Fire Marshal Bob Taylor.
According to Taylor, the fire was challenging to put out since it was located in a difficult-to-reach area in the big two-story home’s attic.
According to Taylor, “significant smoke damage” was done to a large portion of the house, even though the fire itself seemed to be contained to the roof and attic.
Members of Hill’s family were home when the fire broke out, but he was not.
“They were able to evacuate safely before our crews arrived,” Taylor told NBC News.
“Thankfully, it was called in quickly enough that we were able to get to it and aggressively be able to contain the fire to the area.”
It was too early to identify a cause, according to officials.
According to property records, the seven-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom house was bought for $6.9 million in May 2022.
With 112 receptions for 1,717 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, Hill has been among the NFL’s most productive players. Most people agree that he is one of the best possibilities to win the MVP award in the NFL.
“It’s very difficult for anyone to have their home catch on fire, but Tyreek and his family are handling it with as much poise as you can hope. He was grateful to the firefighters who saved his home,” Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told NBC South Florida at the scene.
The Dolphins and Buffalo Bills will square off in the NFL regular season finale on Sunday night. The AFC East champion will be named the victor.
