The Florida Panthers are undoubtedly having a great time celebrating their Stanley Cup win, but the trophy itself has suffered as a result.

Photographs taken during the festivities revealed that the trophy’s bottom was dented and its bowl had cracked as the Panthers’ celebrations got underway.

According to Reuters, the incidents took place just hours after Florida defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 on Tuesday to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in a row.

Social media posts included pictures and videos of the Panthers players throwing Stanley Cup beer at supporters as they celebrated their championship win in Fort Lauderdale’s Elbo Bar.

The Associated Press was informed by a Hockey Hall of Fame spokeswoman that the Keepers of the Cup intend to get it fixed by Sunday’s celebratory parade.

It is not unheard of for a trophy to sustain “injuries” during title-winning festivities.

Defender Sergio Ramos dropped the trophy from the top of a double-decker bus during the celebrations after international soccer powerhouse Real Madrid won Spain’s top cup competition, the Copa del Rey, in 2011. The team bus then ran over the trophy, leaving the silverware severely dented.

This year’s circumstance isn’t even the most bizarre one the venerable Stanley Cup has encountered in its illustrious history.

After capturing the cup in 1924, the Montreal Canadiens left it by the side of the road in a manner that was nearly comical. According to the report, players had to get out to push after a car carrying some of the team stalled while climbing a hill. They didn’t realize they had left one of the most renowned trophies in the world behind until they had reached the summit.

After the New York Rangers won the “People’s Trophy” in 1994, a picture of Go For Gin, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, eating from the trophy was taken at Belmont Park in New York.

Kris Draper celebrated the 2008 Detroit Red Wings’ victory by posing with his infant daughter in the Cup. She was the only one who left a small surprise by using the fabled trophy as a toilet.

Josh Archibald of the Pittsburgh Penguins used his time with the Cup to baptize his son as part of an inventive celebration. Sitting in the bowl on top of the trophy, three-week-old Brecken was pictured getting his blessing.
