Lara Trump declared on X that she would be leaving her position as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), stating that the RNC had three specific objectives during her tenure, all of which had been achieved.

She began her career as the RNC’s co-chair in March 2024, but it has been widely reported that she is thinking about her options as her father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump, assumes leadership of the White House once more.

“With that big win, I kind of feel like my time is up,” she stated. “What I intended to do has been done.”

Trump only took over as co-chair in March, but she played a crucial role in Republicans regaining control of the Senate and holding onto a slim majority in the House.

Since Trump has stated that he will be chosen to be the next Secretary of State, there has been speculation that she would be considered to succeed Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

“I would love to serve the people of Florida” and “would love to consider” taking the seat if asked, she said to Fox News’ Sean Hannity last month.

Trump talked to Howard Kurtz on Sunday on the honor of simply being given consideration.

“Certainly, we’ve all had the opportunity over the past nine years to fully involve ourselves in politics, to understand the American people, what they want, and we’ve all been residents of the state of Florida now for over three years,” she continued. “If that’s something that’s put in front of me, it would be a true honor.”

Many people are calling for Maye Musk, the mother of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, to succeed Rubio.

“The Senate is a club for old men. We are in dire need of a young, intelligent, and honest woman who will share her secrets,” she wrote on X. Lara Trump is forty-two years old.

When Elon Musk replied to his mother’s X post, he seemed to share her opinion, stating, “Lara Trump is genuinely great.”

On “Hannity,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., stated that Republicans “could not do better … than Lara Trump” and that he “would be like over-the-top excited.”

Rubio’s successor will ultimately be selected by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is allegedly being considered to succeed Pete Hegseth.

RNC chairman Michael Whatley will continue to serve.
