According to data from the Florida Division of Elections and registered voter data examined by the Miami Herald, about half of Florida’s registered voters have already cast their ballots with Election Day just one day away. Both active and inactive voters who are eligible to vote are included in the Herald’s estimates.

Democrats led in early voting and mail-in voter turnout in just seven of Florida’s 67 counties. Nonetheless, around 26 percent of the state’s registered voters are from those seven counties.

The number of registered voters who have already cast their ballots and the parties they are registered with are reported by each county’s Department of Elections, but it is impossible to determine the precise results of the vote until after the polls shut on election day. The number of Florida voters who were registered as of September 30 was used by the Herald. The numbers, which include both active and inactive registered voters, won’t be available until after the election, although it’s expected that more individuals will have registered by the state’s registration deadline on October 7.

Data from Monday morning indicates that registered Republicans received about 845,000 more votes than Democrats, including both early voting and vote by mail, despite the fact that registered Democrats had sent in more vote-by-mail ballots. Up until Sunday, more over 8 million people had cast ballots.

In the state, around 39 percent of those registered with no party affiliation, 51 percent of Democrats, and 53 percent of all Republicans had cast an early or mail-in ballot.

The turnout in each county following the close of early voting is depicted on the map below. Additionally, you can observe which party had a higher turnout in each county.

As early voting ended in Miami-Dade, Republicans maintained their lead in turnout. Approximately 52 percent of the county’s registered voters have cast early or mail-in ballots.

Although Florida’s Division of Elections requires all counties to submit their totals from the day before by 8 a.m., the division’s website allows counties with technical issues additional time to file by refreshing numbers until 6 p.m.

In Florida, Republicans were about five percentage points ahead of registered Democrats in terms of voter registration as of September 30. The past two years have seen a sharp rise in that number. The difference was less than one percentage point in August 2022.
