You might want to enroll in this Taylor Swift-inspired course if you have a “Blank Space” on your calendar for the upcoming year!

The spring 2019 semester of the University of Florida Honors Program will feature a brand-new course called “Musical Storytelling with Taylor Swift and Other Iconic Female Artists.” A course description on the university’s website states that the program, taught by Senior Lecturer Melina Jimenez, will spend 13 weeks exploring the “Anti-Hero” singer’s repertoire, particularly her songwriting.

The course description goes on to say that students will “draw parallels between Swift’s enchanting lyrics and works by other famous female masterminds such as Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, and Dolly Parton.”

Students will study topics such as “old flames, infidelity, aging, and double standards” that are mentioned in Swift’s discography each week. In addition, they will participate in class discussions about their favorite songs and analyze lyrics.

The list of colleges throughout the nation that have added Swift courses to their offerings now includes the University of Florida. “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)” was the subject of a 10-week course at Stanford, and the university will teach “The Last Great American Songwriter: Storytelling with Taylor Swift Through the Eras” in the spring of 2019.

The record-breaking pop diva will also be the subject of classes at Arizona State University, UC Berkeley, and the University of Houston starting in 2019.
