Early on Tuesday morning (Nov. 26), SpaceX intends to launch another set of its Starlink broadband satellites from Florida’s Space Coast.
At 10:05 p.m. EST on Tuesday (0308 GMT on Wednesday, Nov. 27), a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 24 Starlink satellites is expected to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. On Wednesday, Nov. 27, backup options are available until 1:30 a.m. EST (0630 GMT).
Starting roughly five minutes prior to launch, SpaceX will broadcast the event using its X account.
The first stage of the Falcon 9 will land on the droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” in the Atlantic Ocean around eight minutes after liftoff, providing all goes as planned.
According to a SpaceX mission description, it will be the booster’s 15th launch and landing. To date, Starlink missions have accounted for 10 of its 14 flights.
About 65 minutes after liftoff, the 24 Starlink satellites will be deployed in low Earth orbit by the upper stage of the Falcon 9.
Eighty of the 116 Falcon 9 missions that SpaceX has launched thus far in 2024 have been focused on expanding the Starlink network. In the last seven days, four of those Starlink flights have taken place.
Astrophysicist and satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell claims that there are currently close to 6,700 active spacecraft in the Starlink megaconstellation, the largest ever created.
