In the upcoming months, a number of Macy’s stores and Furniture Galleries in South Florida are anticipated to close.
During the next three years, Macy’s plans to eliminate around 150 underperforming shops nationwide, the company announced in a press release on Thursday.
The confirmed closure list includes 66 locations, including the Macy’s in Boynton Beach, the South Dade Furniture Gallery in Miami, Pembroke Furniture in Pembroke Pines, and Ft. Lauderdale Furniture in Fort Lauderdale. Additionally, the Boca Raton Furniture Gallery is closed.
The confirmed closing list also includes other Florida locations in Tampa, Altamonte Springs, and Sarasota.
The press release states that the company’s “Bold New Chapter” strategy lays out the plan to continuously improve both in-store and online experiences while reinvesting in 350 locations.
The chairman and CEO of Macy’s, Inc., Tony Spring, stated, “Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go-forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service.”
It is anticipated that Macy’s Backstage and Furniture Galleries would start clearance sales in February.
