According to AAA, gas prices in Florida have decreased by 13 cents this week.

According to industry watcher GasBuddy, prices in the Miami area decreased by 13 1/2 cents a gallon, or roughly 22 cents less than a month ago and 46 cents less than a year ago.

And costs might decrease even more.

“We fully anticipate that gas prices will continue to decline as Americans drive fewer miles as fall approaches,” stated GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis, Patrick De Haan.

According to AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins, the sharp decline in the crude oil market is to blame for the price decline at the pump.

North Florida continues to be the state with the lowest gas prices, with certain locations seeing averages of less than $3 per gallon, and even approximately 25 cents less than South Florida. Gas prices in Palm Beach County are among the highest in the nation.

WHAT HAVE THE PROFESSIONALS SAID?

GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis, Patrick De Haan, said: “Impressively, gas prices have dropped to their lowest since winter for the sixth straight week.” Currently, 11 states and more than 45,000 stations on GasBuddy list gas prices under $3 per gallon. Gas and diesel costs have a good chance of continuing to decline for some time, given that oil prices have dropped below $70 per barrel, the lowest level since 2021. For the first time since 2021, we anticipate that the national average gas price will drop below $3 in October. This would be welcome news for drivers and politicians hoping to win reelection this autumn.

“Declining oil prices lower the cost of producing gasoline,” said AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins.

WAYS TO FIND CHEAP GAS IN YOUR AREA

There is a useful app: The GasBuddy app was designed to provide drivers with local pricing information, and a fuel tracker can inform users of gas stations that are either full or empty based on fluctuations in the gasoline supply.
