According to Automotive News, there are plans to rebuild the 2026 Dodge Durango, which would represent a big facelift for this roomy crossover SUV. It might even make a reappearance as an electric car. Despite early speculations that said it would only be available for the 2023 model year, the Hellcat edition reappeared in 2024. While analysts are unsure of Dodge’s plans for trims and the future of the Hellcat, they predict that the company will continue to produce the iconic American muscle it is known for, albeit perhaps with a more polished and refined personality.
The huge Dodge SUV is likely to have a completely new exterior that may resemble the Hornet more closely. The front fascia and grille will likely be replaced, along with the headlights and the Durango’s rear end. Its distinctive Durango appearance is expected to be maintained by keeping some of its powerful stylistic components. The 2026 Durango is anticipated to get a thorough revamp internally, with a fresh exterior and a completely redesigned center stack with a bigger central screen and an extended digital display. An 8.4-inch touchscreen, six Alpine speakers, four USB outlets, satellite radio, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all included in the Durango’s current equipment list. The majority of versions include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, nine Alpine speakers, and wireless phone charging starting with the GT Plus trim level. It is hoped that even on the lowest trim, these optional amenities will become standard.
The current Durango has a variety of powertrain options, and it is expected that the 2026 Durango redesign will maintain this. Experts do, however, foresee the introduction of new engine options, perhaps even a hybrid or electric powertrain. Four different engines are currently offered for the Durango: a 3.6L V6, a 5.7L V8, a 6.4L V8, or a 6.4L Supercharged V8. Depending on the arrangement, the modern Durango has a towing capacity of up to 8,700 pounds. Customers may anticipate a towing capability at least as great with the revamped Durango.
The revised 2026 Dodge Durango is anticipated to go on sale in the latter half of the year, while formal confirmation from Dodge is still awaited. The frequency of updates will increase as more information becomes available. The 2026 Durango is expected to cost more than the present model, which has an initial MSRP starting at about $40,000 (including destination charge), as a result of the extensive overhaul. Other large crossovers on the market, such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Ford Explorer, and Mazda CX-90, will compete with the Dodge Durango.
