Today, the Michelin Guide announced that it will expand its scope by adding three more Florida locations in 2025. In addition to Greater Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, the 2025 menu will have restaurants in Greater Fort Lauderdale, The Palm Beaches, and St. Pete-Clearwater. Beginning in 2026, the selection will be extended to include all of Florida.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, said, “With its emerging culinary talent, global influences, and the evident enthusiasm of its local restaurant communities, Florida keeps raising the bar.” Over the past three years, we have seen the Florida selection grow and consolidate as our Inspectors have emphasized their findings. We can’t wait to explore these new locations and show off how fantastic the local food scene is.

The MICHELIN Guide’s anonymous inspectors are already on the ground, making reservations for meals and looking for culinary gems in the new locations. Later, the entire 2025 restaurant roster will be revealed at the annual MICHELIN Guide event for Florida.

“The MICHELIN Guide’s expansion into three additional Florida locales in 2025 and statewide in 2026 further solidifies the state’s standing as a top culinary destination for both locals and visitors. Dana Young, President and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA, expressed her excitement that more exceptional chefs and restaurants around the state will at last get the credit they merit. “One of the main attractions for visitors to Florida has traditionally been its gastronomic diversity and depth.

The MICHELIN Guide regularly tracks the development of restaurants around the world. The selection process for the Guide is completely unbiased and is made by Inspectors who remain anonymous. The MICHELIN Guide and Visit Florida work together exclusively on marketing and promotional projects.

History and methodology

The subsequent restaurant selection will follow Michelin’s historical process, which is predicated on five universal criteria, to ensure selection equality for every location: 1) superior products; 2) harmony of flavors; 3) culinary expertise; 4) the voice and personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine; 5) uniformity in the menu and between visits (each restaurant is assessed several times a year).

The MICHELIN Guide is a reliable resource for any traveler seeking a delectable lunch. In order to increase tire sales by giving French drivers practical advice, the Guide was first published in France at the beginning of the 20th century. Michelin’s inspectors still use the same selection criteria and procedure as they did in the past in locations all around the world.

Michelin’s first North American Guide included New York in 2005. Guides have also been added in the following locations: Chicago (2011), Washington, D.C. (2017), California (San Francisco in 2007), Greater Miami/Orlando/Tampa, Florida (2022), Toronto (2022), Vancouver (2022), Colorado (2023), Atlanta (2023), Mexico (2024), Texas (2024), and Quebec (2024).
