Athletes from the Sunshine State have already made an impact at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Three days into the 2024 Olympics, Team USA leads all other nations with 20 medals won thus far.

35 athletes from Florida are competing in the games, and there are several others with local connections to the Sunshine State.

And even though there are a ton of sports and events that you may not even know exist to choose from, we’ve got you covered with a medal tracker of Americans and Floridians competing in this Olympic Games.

Caleb Dressel

Orange Park native and former Florida Gator Caleb Dressel is competing in multiple disciplines at the Olympics, and he is off to a great start.

He helped the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay team from Team USA win a golden medal, which was his eighth Olympic gold medal.

Caleb is scheduled to swim in the 100-meter butterfly and 50-meter freestyle events in Paris.

Emma Weyant

Emma Weyant, a swimmer from Sarasota, won silver in the women’s 400-meter individual medley on Monday in her second Olympics.

Weyant attended Riverview High School, was a member of the Sarasota Sharks swim team, and is a Florida Gator.

Ryan McMurray

In the men’s 100-meter backstroke on Monday night, swimmer Ryan Murphy took home a bronze medal, his third consecutive medal at the Olympics and his seventh overall.

Although the 29-year-old was raised in Jacksonville, where he attended Bolles School and graduated in 2013, his birthplace is Chicago.

That same day, however, he might have learned even more important news: the gender of his unborn kid. Ryan’s wife told him they were expecting a girl in the stands following his medal ceremony.

In addition, he will compete in the men’s 200-meter backstroke.

Additional Florida Olympic News

There are some Florida players and news items to be aware of elsewhere.

With a remarkable effort, the U.S. Men’s Gymnastics Team made headlines on Monday by winning their first Olympic medal since 2008.

Brody Malone and Stephen Nedoroscik, two athletes who trained in Sarasota for the Games, were instrumental in the historic triumph. When Nedoroscik finished the medal-winning team performance by riding the pommel horse alone, he won over the hearts of Americans everywhere.

Tuesday morning, Donna Vekić of Croatia defeated Team USA flag-bearer Coco Gauff in straight sets in the third round of the tennis singles.

Danielle Collins of St. Petersburg is scheduled to compete in the women’s doubles on Tuesday. She defeated Caroline Wozniacki to go to the Round of 16 in the women’s singles.

Bobby Finke, a Tampa native and former Florida Gator, will compete in the men’s 800m freestyle on Tuesday afternoon. The 24-year-old won two gold medals in the past.
