In its most recent expansion, high-speed rail operator Brightline plans to establish a brand-new stop along Florida’s Treasure Coast.
Brightline told Travel + Leisure that the new station will be situated in Stuart, Florida, and is anticipated to open in the second half of 2026. The city was picked because of its physical attributes, location, and “ease with which the site will integrate into Brightline’s existing rail infrastructure network,” according to the business. It is situated just north of another Brightline station in West Palm Beach.
“We’ve seen significant demand and support for a Brightline Station in the Treasure Coast which was evident during this process,” Brian Kronberg, Brightline’s senior vice president of development and construction, said in a statement shared with T+L. “It was a difficult decision and we’re grateful for everyone’s support and efforts to make this happen.”
The new station will provide passengers traveling on Brightline’s Miami to Orlando route—which debuted last year—with yet another stop.
The rail firm began operations in 2018 with service between West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. Since then, it has grown, offering service not just to Orlando but also to Aventura and Boca Raton.
The business states that the new station will drop off visitors minutes from the area’s beaches and within walking reach of Stuart’s center in roughly forty minutes by rail from West Palm Beach.
“Marks a historic return to our roots and fulfills a vision held by Stuart for over 30 years, offering residents and visitors alike a first-class journey to Stuart, away from the congestion of highways,” stated Stuart Mayor Becky Brunner in response to the announcement of the new station.
Brightline has other expansion plans besides this one. The train firm is beginning construction in southern California to establish a rail line that will connect the state with Las Vegas, in addition to Florida. In the end, the more than 200-mile Brightline West project will link Sin City and the Los Angeles region.
