In two weeks, the PGA Tour will kick off its 2024 season, which is now fully sponsored.

The Tour said on Tuesday that the old Honda Classic, a 50-year South Florida tradition, will now have Cognizant as its official sponsor. Cognizant is a business technology company.

At the Champion course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Cognizant Classic will take place from February 29 to March 3.

The tournament was referred to as “The Classic in the Palm Beaches” when the Tour’s 2024 schedule was unveiled in August since it had not yet secured sponsorship. With the 2023 edition, Honda’s record as the Tour’s longest-running title sponsor came to an end.

The Cognizant Classic purse has not yet been revealed, however, it is not a flagship event with higher FedEx Cup points and cash payouts. It is scheduled to take place one week before the Arnold Palmer Invitational and two weeks after the Genesis Invitational, two of the major events.

Few players are likely to participate in those tournaments because they draw the biggest names in the game; nonetheless, that was the case in 2017 when Chris Kirk defeated Eric Cole in a playoff to snap a protracted winless streak, making it one of the biggest stories of the year.

As a corporate marketing partner of the Tour and a global partner of the Presidents Cup, Cognizant started working with the Tour in 2021. The Tour’s Championship Management branch, which is in charge of several events like the Players Championship and Tour Championship, will run the Cognizant Classic.

By 2025, the Tour’s schedule will need to be filled with additional sponsors. This month, Wells Fargo announced that it would not be continuing to sponsor the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club after 2024. This year’s event is a highlight event with a $20 million payout.

It is anticipated that 2025 tournaments will bear a greater share of the purse increases that have resulted from LIV Golf’s establishment, as the PGA Tour’s operating expenses rise.
