The 100 Black Men of South Florida provided a holiday gift to hundreds of local children. They provided funding for a Christmas shopping spree for pupils who excel both academically and socially.

Roughly 300 children, wearing Santa hats, were led by volunteers from different organizations through the Miami Gardens Walmart with $100 each. They were free to choose anything they wished, but we discovered that many of them decided to use the gift they had been given to bless others in the process.

“I got an extra PlayStation controller so me and my brother can play together,” said Dylan.

Taraji requested to replenish her school supplies, and Naicki informed us that she was purchasing sneakers for both her five-year-old brother and herself. The volunteers were cheered up for the holidays by that selflessness.

“You look at the smiles on the kids’ faces, it brings such joy to them but it’s really important for us too because this is what the holiday season is all about,” said General Manager of CBS News Miami Kim Voet.

The entire shopping spree was sponsored by 100 Black Men of South Florida, and they still can do so with donations. Click here to volunteer at upcoming events if you’re interested in helping.
