Fort Myers, Florida — In the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Humberto has developed. At 5 p.m., the National Hurricane Center will start issuing advisories.

Invest 94L is the area to watch one.

Invest 94L is the name of the initial tropical wave.

An investment is a field of study. It’s a term used to identify regions of tropical weather that are worth monitoring but aren’t yet fully organized tropical systems.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Invest 94L is positioned over the northern Caribbean Sea.

The National Hurricane Center estimates that there is a 30% chance that this investment will develop into at least a tropical depression during the next two days and an 80% chance during the following seven days.

According to forecast modeling, as this system moves northwest, it may turn into a tropical depression by the end of the week.

Whether Florida will be affected by this tropical wave is yet too early to tell. However, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands will experience strong winds and a lot of rain.

Two areas to keep an eye on: Invest 93L.

Later today, the second tropical wave, known as Invest 93L, may develop into a tropical depression.

There have been indications of organization in this system. The likelihood of development during the following 48 hours is 90 percent as of Wednesday afternoon.

Although it is still too early to predict where this area of unsettled weather will ultimately track in the future, the majority of prediction data indicates that it will probably be pulled northward before approaching Florida too closely.

Hurricane Gabrielle

Storm Gabrielle is a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph as of Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Compared to Tuesday afternoon, when it peaked at Category 4 strength, this represents a decline.

At 26 mph, Gabrielle is moving east-northeast, indicating that the storm will continue to travel away from North America during the next few days. However, there may still be a few small swells near Bermuda and around the East Coast.
