During a recent broadcast, a Florida meteorologist was clearly moved to tears as he discussed Hurricane Milton’s potentially disastrous effects.

On Monday, October 7, John Morales broke down in tears when giving updates on Milton during an NBC station WTVJ telecast.

“Wow, what a fantastic hurricane,” said Morales, hesitating.

Tears seemed to form in his eyes as he continued, “It has dropped 50 millibars in 10 hours.”

He said, “I’m sorry; this is just horrifying.”

The weather chart took center stage while he carried on the show, providing off-camera updates to the locals. Nevertheless, during the entire section, viewers were able to discern the intensity in his voice.

“I contemplated sharing this or not. Later on X, Morales posted, “I did apologize on the air,” with a link to his coverage on weather and climate change.

“I would like you to read my reflections on how I have changed as a result of harsh weather brought on by global warming. To be honest, YOU too ought to be shaken,” he added.

Hurricane Milton on Monday became stronger to a Category 3 and, shortly after, to a Category 5. According to WTVJ, the weather event may feature gusts as high as 160 mph and a storm surge of at least 12 feet.

According to the publication, Milton is expected to weaken and eventually make landfall as a Category 3 on Wednesday, October 9, close to Tampa, Florida.

Owing to the storm’s intensity, several Florida counties are still under a state of emergency, and on Wednesday, operations at Orlando International Airport will be suspended, according to WTVJ.

Two weeks after Hurricane Helene devastated the state of Florida, Milton is the most recent storm to wreak havoc.
