For people affected by the devastating flooding in Central Texas, relief operations are currently being carried out in South Florida.

The crew has been busy loading trucks with supplies at the Global Empowerment Mission warehouse in Doral. 26 pallets of family necessity packages, which comprise food, water, and hygiene products, are loaded onto each truck.

The second truck is anticipated to start the trip in the early afternoon, while the first one departed late Monday morning.

Support for people who have lost everything

GEM anticipates that 500–1,000 families will benefit from the kits. In an effort to assist families in getting back on their feet, they also have teams on the ground distributing cash cards.

“People lose everything, they lose their homes, they lose family members, so we’re just there to help, give a little bit of aid to them so they can get by,” said Jeff Popovich, CEO of GEM.

By Tuesday at noon, both of GEM’s trucks should reach Central Texas. After that, they will start distributing the kits.

In order to have more boxes available in case they are needed, GEM is seeking volunteers to assist with box packing on Tuesday. You can donate here to support relief efforts in Texas.
