Woods’ previous best AJGA finish was a tie for 25th at the Junior Invitational in March at Sage Valley in South Carolina, so it was a breakthrough for him personally.
He defeated elite junior players like Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach (ranked No. 1 in the previous AJGA rankings), Luke Colton (ranked No. 5), and Tyler Watts of Alabama (ranked No. 7) with a final round score of 66 (6-under) to finish the tournament at 15-under overall.
Charlie Woods’ upcoming competition
Woods has been invited to participate in the Northeast Amateur, which will take place at the Wannamoisett Country Club in Rhode Island from June 18–21.
Founded in 1962 as an annual junior golf competition, the Northeast Amateur is one of seven tournaments on the Elite Amateur Golf Series. Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Luke Donald, David Duval, and Nick Dunlap—who won the competition in 2023 and became a professional on the PGA Tour in 2024—are among its previous champions.
According to the official X account of the Rhode Island Golf Association, Woods has not yet responded to his invitation.
Woods may be eligible to compete in the 2025 Junior Players Championship at the storied TPC Sawgrass in late August in Ponte Vedra Beach thanks to his new AJGA ranking.
In addition to a small number of international invitees and extra seats available at the event organizer’s discretion, the field consists of the top 58 boys in the Rolex AJGA Rankings as of July 8.
