The Florida Python Challenge is currently accepting registrations and will begin on July 11.

The South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are hosting the 10-day tournament.

The event’s objectives are to eradicate the invasive Burmese python and save the wildlife and ecology of the Everglades.

The contest runs from July 11 at 12:01 a.m. to July 20 at 5 p.m.

One of the eight official competition sites this year is Everglades National Park, where hunters will also have the opportunity to hunt on public grounds.

A total of 195 Burmese pythons were taken out of the Everglades during the 2024 Florida Python Challenge. 1,112 non-native constrictors have been eliminated since the tournament began.

The Ultimate Grand Prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the registered participant who kills the most pythons during the 2025 hunt. Professional, novice, and military categories will also receive prizes.

Visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Python Challenge webpage to learn more about the hunt. The website offers resources for organizing a trip to South Florida, information about Burmese pythons and the distinctive Everglades ecology, the opportunity to examine optional training possibilities, register for the competition, and complete the mandatory online training.
