Memorial Day events in Central Florida

On the final Monday in May, Memorial Day is honored in remembrance of the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

In the years following the Civil War, it was first known as Decoration Day before becoming a recognized federal holiday in 1971.

These memorial services will be held throughout Central Florida on Monday, May 29.

Observance in Apopka – Edgewood/Greenwood Cemetery

The Memorial Day Remembrance, held on Monday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial, honors the lives and legacies of our fallen military heroes. It is hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10147 and the City of Apopka.

Memorial Day celebration in Bill Dreggors Park in DeLand

The service, which will take place on Monday, May 29 at 9 a.m. in the facility at the Veterans Pavilion in Bill Dreggors Park, located at 230 North Stone Street in DeLand, is open to all local veterans and community members.

Memorial Day Parade and Tribute in Riverfront Park, Cocoa, 18th Annual

On Monday, May 29, join us at Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village for the annual Memorial Day Celebration. The parade kicks off around 4:00. A guest speaker, a unique flag-folding ceremony, a 21-gun salute, playing of taps, a moment of silence, entertainment, and other events will be held across the city to memorialize the lost soldiers.

Memorial Day Ceremony in Flagler County – Heroes Memorial Park

On Monday, May 29, the City of Palm Coast will have a ceremony to honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the American military. At Heroes Memorial Park in Palm Coast, the event starts at 8 a.m.

Memorial Day at New Smyrna Beach 2023

On Monday, May 29, all are warmly invited to the City of New Smyrna Beach and the VFW Post 4250 for a solemn ceremony in honor and remembrance of the valiant men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Outside the Brannon Center, which is located at 105 S. Riverside Drive, the ceremony gets underway at 11 a.m. along the shoreline.

Ceremony to Remember at the Orange County War Memorial

The Orange County War Memorial Commemoration Ceremony will recognize Orange County’s military personnel who ultimately gave their lives in the line of duty. The event starts on Monday, May 29 at 8:45 a.m. in Jury Room 180 at the Orange County Courthouse.

Annual Memorial Day Ceremony in Port Orange

The annual ceremony will be held by the City of Port Orange on Monday, May 29 at 10 a.m. in Veterans Park in City Center. The service, which will be held at the VFW Post 3282, will include a color guard demonstration, remarks, and a 21-gun salute.

Veterans Memorial Park: Sanford Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony

The Seminole State College Brass Quintet performs a tribute at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 29 to kick off the Remembrance Ceremony. The Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony for the City of Sanford gets underway at 10 a.m. in Veterans Memorial Park.

Memorial Day Celebration in Winter Park – Glen Haven Memorial Park

This event will take place on May 29 at 11 a.m. at Winter Park’s Glen Haven Memorial Park.
