Florida’s best pet insurance in 2023

If your pet becomes sick or hurt, a pet insurance policy can prevent expensive trips to the veterinarian. Accidents and medical care for many different illnesses are both covered by insurance. For your pet’s long-term medical needs, several insurers also provide optional wellness coverage.

Florida pet owners have a wide range of choices when it comes to obtaining coverage that meets their needs and their budget while also providing for their canine companions.

What Florida Pet Insurance Provider Is the Best?

Spot Pet Insurance was ranked first in an analysis of the top pet insurance providers in Florida for 2023. Trupanion and Embrace are tied for second place with Lemonade, coming in third. The ranking places Pets Best and Healthy Paws tied for fifth place.

Spot exclusively covers dogs and cats, as do the majority of insurers. People who own exotic animals like birds and reptiles may want to look into the insurance provided by Nationwide, the No. 7 company in the ranking, as they provide avian and exotic pet coverage. Horses are insured by ASPCA Pet Insurance, which is ranked No. 8.

Along with insurance that just covers accidents, Spot Pet Insurance also offers coverage that cover illnesses. Accident and illness insurance policies pay for exam costs, treatments for a variety of illnesses, and some dental operations like emergency tooth extractions.

Accident-related surgery, hospital stays, and veterinary visits due to ingested objects or toxins are all covered under accident-only coverage. Additionally, it addresses bites, stings, lacerations, and shattered bones.

Customers that use Spot can choose plans with unlimited annual coverage. Policies with predetermined coverage limits between $2,500 and $10,000 are also available.

Preventive care is not covered by the company’s standard policies, however, there are add-ons available. The annual wellness coverage reimbursement for the Gold Preventive Care package is $250, while the Platinum Preventive Care package is $450.

After paying for their pet’s treatment at a recognized veterinarian, facility, or specialist, Spot policyholders can submit an online claim to receive a reimbursement from the insurer. The company website can be used to finish the claims procedure.

Can I purchase Spot pet insurance right away?

Prior to starting coverage, there is a 14-day waiting period with Spot. Pre-existing conditions are regarded as such and are not covered if they develop within the applicable waiting period.

What is excluded with Spot Pet Insurance?

Pre-existing conditions are not covered by spot plans. Conditions that develop during the policy’s waiting period and daycare/boarding are further exclusions. The company’s basic plans do not cover preventive care, but two tiers of wellness coverage are offered as add-ons.
