According to data on the state Department of Health website, 3,162 Florida resident deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 this year, and the death toll is still rising.

There were more deaths than there had been in early June (2,740) and early July (2,972).

Nonetheless, compared to the previous four years, this year’s death rate is lower.

2020 saw the state heavily affected by the epidemic. State statistics indicates that Florida reported 23,347 fatalities in that year. Before falling to 21,300 in 2022 and 8,436 in 2023, the number spiked to 39,870 in 2021.

With 278 reported deaths this year, Miami-Dade County has had the highest number. With 241 deaths, Palm Beach County and 189 deaths, Pinellas County followed.
