Miami isn’t the biggest city in the Sunshine State, despite being the best destination for those seeking a fun nightlife or a beach vacation, according to recent data.

The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2024 population estimates show that Jacksonville has more than 500,000 more people than The Magic City, making it the most populous city in Florida.

According to census data, Miami had 487,014 residents, whereas Jacksonville had 1,009,833 people.

Overtaking Tampa, which was named the most tranquil city in the United States, Miami is the second most populous city in Florida.

Hialeah and Fort Lauderdale, two more South Florida cities, were listed among Florida’s ten most populous cities.

Following Jacksonville and Miami, the following table lists the next seven biggest cities in the Sunshine State:

City – Population

Tampa: 414,547

Orlando: 334,854

St. Petersburg: 267,102

Port St. Lucie: 258,575

Hialeah: 235,388

Cape Coral: 233,025

Fort Lauderdale: 190,641
