In the Sunshine State, mobile sports betting is once again accessible, but with some restrictions.
For the first time in two years, the Seminole Tribe’s Hard Rock Sports Bet app was reintroduced for current users in Florida on Tuesday. Amidst legal wrangling, the Hard Rock app opened in November 2021; however, following a ruling by a U.S. District judge, it promptly stopped collecting wagers.
The Seminoles had previously declared that sports betting would launch in-person at each of its six Florida casinos in December.
“The Seminole Tribe is offering limited access to existing Florida customers to test its Hard Rock Bet platform,” Gary Bitner, a spokesperson for the Seminole Tribe, said in a statement.
Bitner said this roll-out was very similar to how the platform first launched.
“When the Seminole tribe launched the app in 2021, it did the same thing,” he told the Miami Herald. “There was no announcement, the app went up and it was all very smooth.”
While it is now only possible for current customers to place bets on the Hard Rock app, new users can still sign up for the waitlist.
You must register for Unity by Hard Rock at any Seminole Casino in order to do this, accumulate one or more Unity points, and then watch for an email.
“This is a historic milestone that immediately puts Florida in the same league with the world’s great gaming destinations,” Jim Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming and Chairman of Hard Rock International, said in a statement.
