In a company release, Amazon announced that it is opening an additional 100,000 seasonal positions in preparation for the 2020 holiday season.

The seasonal jobs will be available throughout several U.S. and Canada locations and will complement existing full and part-time positions.

The news was coupled with the announcement that over 35,000 employees have been promoted in 2020 and that 30,000  have taken advantage of Amazon’s Career Choice program.

Florida is expected to receive an estimated 5,200 positions of the 100,000 across its packing and distribution locations.

Among the positions available will be packing, shipping, delivery, and human resources positions, and more.

Amazon is notorious for its generous pay and benefits for seasonal workers and will continue to offer starting positions well over the state average at $15 an hour with full-time workers eligible to receive health, dental, and vision insurance benefits, as well as a 401(k) with 50% company match from day one.

Florida’s job market is looking to bounce back from tremendous losses in the job market due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the unemployment rate in Florida having reached almost 15% in April of this year.

According to the company, it has created over 30,000 jobs in Florida since 2010 and is slated to open a one-million square foot distribution facility in Palm Beach County next fall.
