Medical marijuana patients in Florida now have access to some of the most potent and effective cannabis-infused edibles on the market. Altmed, the parent company of MÜV dispensaries, has partnered up with Wana Brands in an exclusive agreement to bring the sought after edibles brand to the Sunshine State.
AltMed Florida’s MÜV™ Medical Cannabis Dispensaries will now be carrying Wana Soft Chews in four flavors across different strains including, Blueberry Indica, Mango Sativa, Watermelon Hybrid, and Strawberry Lemonade 1:1 (CBD/THC), with each serving containing the same dosage of 10mg of THC and 10 servings per package.
“Many patients have indicated a preference for Wana edibles, which can provide an effective and discreet alternative to smoking and vaping. Medical marijuana patients in Florida who are searching for an alternative to combustible methods can access Wana Chews for the most consistent and potent product to address their health needs. Early patient interest is already exceeding expectations,” said Nancy Whiteman, CEO, Wana Brands.
Since the coronavirus pandemic began, sales of medical marijuana have skyrocketed. In 2020, Gov. Ron DeSantis deemed the medical cannabis industry as an essential business and therefore significantly benefited from continued sales through the thick of statewide shutdowns. Year-to-date state data from the Office of Medical Marijuana Use shows that as of Jan. 10, 2020, Florida has seen an increase of 159,671 qualified medical marijuana patients and 128 qualified physicians in the industry, amounting to 53 and 5 percent increases, respectively.
To qualify for medical marijuna treatment, the patient must:
- Be a permanent or seasonal Florida resident
- Be diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition by a qualified physician
- Be entered into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry
- Obtain a Medical Marijuana Use Registry Identification Card
The Wana Brands introduction to Florida comes following a recent Florida Department of Health release detailing new production standards regulating THC-infused edibles in the state. The regulations effectively make chewable medical marijuana products legal, and dictate the form factor, allowable dosage, and shape of the edible product in the state, and is aimed at discouraging children from consuming THC-laced products.
Wana Brands is now available exclusively at all 29 MÜV dispensaries across Florida. The partnership marks the 10th state in the U.S. where the brand is available, with two more states soon to join.
“Wana Brands is another best of category offering and differentiator for MÜV™,” said John Tipton, CEO of AltMed Florida. “Adding the Wana soft chews allows us to continue to execute on our mission to provide the widest variety of best of class products to best serve the individual needs of medical cannabis patients throughout the entire state of Florida.”
According to a BDS Analytics Brand Share Report in 2019, Wana Brands is the No. 1 edibles brand in the United States, and the Wana Chews are made with fruit pectin instead of gelatin—making them 100 percent vegan.
