At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen of America, Inc. recently unveiled the ID.Family, a burgeoning line of electric cars for the North American market. Fans had the opportunity to witness the all-electric trio live at the Los Angeles Convention Center from November 17–26, 2023, as the ID.Buzz, ID.7, and ID.4 made their joint debut.
The Volkswagen Electric Microbus
VW debuted ID.Buzz at Huntington Beach, California, earlier in 2023. The all-electric Microbus pays homage to the legendary Microbus of the German carmaker with its sophisticated electric vehicle technology, vintage aesthetic, and ID driver aid technologies. The ID.Buzz has a 91-kWh skateboard-style battery under the floor that provides roughly 330 horsepower for the all-wheel-drive edition and 282 horsepower for the rear-wheel-drive version.
The electric Microbus’s exterior—the ID—retains its iconic, boxy design with retro references and striking colors. The roomy and well-fitted inside of the ID.Buzz is available in three specially selected color and trim options for North America. The electrochromic panoramic sunroof, multicolored ambient lighting, and comfortable seating for all three rows with numerous adjustments, as well as heating and ventilation choices, are among the features of the all-electric VW Microbus.
Modern technology is included in the ID.Buzz, offers a fully connected infotainment experience with several charging connections and wireless device compatibility. By the fall of 2024, the German manufacturer intends to release the ID.Buzz.
The Volkswagen Electric Sedan
Volkswagen’s first all-electric sedan in the higher midsize class is the ID.7. The ID.7, which will go on sale in the second half of 2024, has long-range capabilities thanks to its extremely efficient drivetrain and superior aerodynamics. The firm estimates that the ID.7 Pro, with its 82 kWh battery, can travel up to 386 miles (621 kilometers). With 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque, the Pro model’s electric motor is also the strongest of any Volkswagen EV. The outstanding comfort of travel is the main focus of the electric Volkswagen sedan, which features a roomy interior and high-end equipment. The DCC adaptive damping system, Climatronic seats with heating, cooling, and massaging capabilities, Park Assist Plus with Memory, and an electrochromic panoramic sunroof are a few of the available features. Natural speech commands for the glass roof and other features are available on the ID.7 via the IDA voice assistant. The 700-watt Harman/Kardon sound system in the VW car also has 14 premium loudspeakers for an amazing listening experience.
The All-Electric Volkswagen SUV
Present in 2021, the Volkswagen ID.4 is an SUV that has swiftly risen to the position of sixth best-selling electric car in North America. In 2024, the ID.4 82 kWh model will get major improvements that include a new 12.9-inch infotainment display with illuminated sliders, a more potent performance drive unit, and an easier-to-use shifter and climate control interface. The Pro S Plus model adds 21-inch wheels and a new Harman/Kardon luxury audio system, while the Pro S model has ventilated front seats. The federal tax credit of up to $7,500 is available for the ID.4 vehicles manufactured in 2023. Volkswagen is the only foreign carmaker qualified for the full federal tax credit since it sources and assembles parts locally. Before each vehicle’s 2024 introduction, the German manufacturer intends to release additional information about the ID.Buzz and ID.7, including pricing and specifications.
