Ram’s Trick or Treat: The 1500 Classic’s Boo-tiful Goodbye

The Stellantis Warren Truck Assembly Plant (WTAP) achieved a significant milestone in October 2024 that will be remembered for the rest of its existence. In Tradesman guise, its last Ram 1500 Classic (DS) light-duty 2024 pickup truck was put together. Part of the previous series of full-size Ram trucks, the Ram 1500 Classic provided a cost-effective alternative to the more recent model. It’s interesting that the carmaker chose not to make a big deal out of it.

However, WTAP staff members were quite appreciative of the facility. They shared a picture of the final unit coming off the assembly line on a social media page called The Real City of Roseville, MI. This Delmonico Red pickup was equipped with a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine, honoring the legendary powertrain’s final appearance in the Ram 1500 series, despite the Ram Classic typically carrying a V-6 or V-8 engine. Customers will now have to choose a Ram Heavy Duty if they want V-8 capability.

Is there a 2024 Ram 1500 Classic?

For comparison, the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-six engine was used in place of the V-8. Although production of the Ram Classic pickup truck continued for the majority of 2024, it was announced in August of that year that it will be discontinued. The demise of the Ram 1500 Classic signifies a significant change for the truck manufacturer. Because the automobile lasted far longer than most people anticipated, readers must consider its major impact.

Before Ram became a separate automaker, the fourth-generation pickup’s assembly started in 2009 as the Dodge Ram. As previously stated, the fourth-generation Ram 1500 was reintroduced as the Classic and sold alongside the new truck when the fifth-generation model debuted in 2019.

The 1500 Classic was likely a commercial success even though Ram never made the sales figures public; otherwise, the carmaker wouldn’t have kept working on the truck for five years. Due to high client demand, a fifth-generation model most likely replaced it. It’s important to remember that the fourth-generation model, the DS in particular, represented a significant improvement for the Ram portfolio and met both personal and professional demands.

That said, for its last year, the Ram 1500 Classic had a starting price tag of $38,705 MSRP (Plus destination fee). The cost got you a Tradesman Quad Cab with rear-wheel drive, the 3.6-liter V-6 mill, and 17-inch steel wheels. WTAP is transitioning toward electric power, but you can benefit from the new Ram vehicles on our lot. Make sure you also treat yourself to our new vehicle specials.
