When an automotive company decides to intertwine GT vehicles in its lineup, it means one of two different things. A GT vehicle can either be a more upscale, luxury vehicle with more comfort for long drives. Or, it can be a high-performance model, equipped with a powerful engine and built to test that power while maintaining control. Well, we don’t really expect a Ram pickup truck to do donuts (well, maybe the TRX), but the new 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie G/T and Ram 1500 Rebel G/T models being added to their truck lineup is a hint at the automaker uniting with rally race cars.

“Ram has a strong history of performance trucks and the Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T models add to that while expanding the light-duty lineup with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology…Ram 1500 G/T buyers will enjoy this combination of performance and luxury that the newest additions to our versatile lineup offer” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis.

By expanding their lineup, these models will continue to solidify the Ram Truck brand as North America’s off-road and performance truck leader. Featuring new impressive levels of performance both on and off-road, as well as unique technologies, the Ram 1500 G/T models take the ride to new levels. The G/T models add G/T decals and a sport performance hood to quickly separate them from the other trucks in the lineup based on looks alone. To give its performance a boost, a factory-installed cold-end exhaust and cold-air intake, available through Mopar, have also been added. Performance pages are standard, which is a popular app for Dodge SRT vehicles. The app provides the driver with access to real-time vehicle performance information which includes timers, gauges, g-force, and engine performance. Some even allow the driver to configure certain settings to help them become more familiar with their vehicle’s performance.

The Ram 1500 TRX was recently released, and many consumers may be curious about their differences. That pickup truck is known to be the alpha of the pickup truck world. So what makes these vehicles so special? The G/T models come with a number of features that are not available on other non-TRX models, giving consumers the choice of power for work or power for fun. The G/T models have paddle shifters, a metal pedal kit, and a console-mounted performance shifter. The interior comes with G/T-specific interior bucket seats with high bolsters and a G/T logo, and all-weather floor mats to help conserve the interior.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T are only available with a Crew Cab configuration and powered by the 5.7-liter V8 engine with eTorque mild-hybrid assist. Both of these vehicles will cost over $50k, with the Ram 1500 Laramie G/T starting at $55,480 (plus destination fee) and the 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel G/T has a starting MSRP of $55,375 (plus destination fee).
