Under a new law signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, Floridians will soon save tax money on year-round hurricane preparedness and safety items, as well as back-to-school necessities and more.

The newly enacted budget for Florida includes permanent sales tax exemptions that go into effect on August 1. Helping families get ready for storms without waiting for short-term tax exemptions is the aim.

“It will greatly aid us in the area of readiness,” Manatee County Emergency Management chief Matt Myers stated.

According to Myers, the modification might persuade people to make plans in advance rather than waiting for temporary tax benefits.

You don’t have to wait for these sales tax holidays just yet. In fact, you can take preventative action at any time of year, according to Myers. “I think it’s just less stress on people after seeing the destruction that occurred and having to wait for these sales tax holidays just to get ready.”
