During this pandemic, we can assume many of you would like to disappear somewhere off in a far away land for the remainder of coronavirus lockdown. (We do, too.) But if you are in Florida, you are in luck. In Southwest Florida there is an isolated cabin in the woods available for rent.

Nestled peacefully in the small town of Ona, Florida, the 25-acre “Tree House”, as it is nicknamed, is actually an original building entirely off-grid. You (and your friends, if you bring them along) will be treated to 12V electricity to run things like lights, fans, and other low voltage appliances, thanks to a few solar panels and a battery bank.
This cabin is uniquely decorated with original art and detailed carpentry like window and door trim, wainscotting and chair rail. The cabin’s ceiling is amply insulated, with abundant seating inside and out.

There is free street parking and free parking on premises. You have access to a private entrance and have a lap-top friendly workspace available to you (there is no Wi-Fi. You would have to request it by the host.) There are also trail rides you can go on as well as a canoe outpost.
Speaking of the host, “meet” your hosts Dennis and Julia. They have hosted retreats on this property since 1994. Their hobbies include playing and singing songs on mandolin and guitar. They have lived in various locations in the United States, Canada, India and North Africa. They always try to provide a great experience for their guests, such as the chance to learn about west Central Florida ecosystems.
You can also go on a personally-guided tour of the Peace River with an experienced canoeist.
The neighborhood is generally quiet, particularly the surroundings of the Tree House. If people are seeking distraction, Solomon’s Castle is within short walking distance. It is a one-of-a-kind family attraction showcasing the life and work of the late artist, Howard Solomon. Have yourself a nice meal on the patio or indoors and enjoy free, live music while you eat.
The cabin is completely isolated. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of noisy city life, right here is the place to do it. You can explore Cypress Knees of the nearby creek.
